Top 5 Prospects of the Month: March 2025

The last Top 5 Prospects of the Month for the season!

By Nick Bass

Welcome back to everyone’s favorite series on the internet, where I go over what Carolina Hurricanes prospects had the best month in terms of production and give everyone those updates. As a reminder, this is not a list of where they rank amongst prospects. This is just for the given month.

As you read in the subhead, this will be the last Top 5 Prospects of the Month for the season. There just isn’t enough prospects playing hockey to make a good ranking, so I hope you enjoyed this season. We will recap the all the players who made the list at the end.

Honorable Mentions:

HM – Domenick Fensore, D (Chicago Wolves, AHL): 11 GP, 1 goal, 6 assists, 7 points

Even with going down with an injury, Fensore has still proved to be an invaluable piece of the Wolves blueline. Running a power play unit, as well as chipping in on the penalty kill, he’s grown into a great AHL player.

HM – Scott Morrow, D (Carolina Hurricanes/Chicago Wolves, NHL/AHL): 8 GP, 2 goals, 4 assists, 6 points

Morrow has looked mighty comfortable in the NHL besides one not great game against the Kings. His ability to move the puck is great, along with controlled zone exits and a willingness to jump. Just needs to reign in those jumps sometimes while also being more careful defensively.

HM – Alexander Nikishin, D (SKA, KHL): 8 GP, 3 goals, 4 assists, 7 points

If he played more games in March, he’s probably ranked higher. But still, 7 points in 8 games is ridiculous for Nikishin, but it’s almost become normal for him.

Top 5 Prospects

5. Jackson Blake, W (Carolina Hurricanes, NHL): 14 GP, 1 goal, 7 assists, 8 points

I’m so glad I get to talk about Blake because I feel like I haven’t gotten the chance to do it a lot. But he’s having an incredible rookie season and the month of March was nice for him. In 14 games, Blake had a goal and 7 assists for 8 points. He has truly earned the playing time he’s getting. His playmaking is next level and his work along the boards is special for a player of his size. The points have finally started coming in and he’s been awesome this season. Also, here’s his player card from Evolving Hockey.

4. Justin Robidas, C/W (Chicago Wolves, AHL)

A player who has completely earned his NHL debut, Robidas has been everything the Wolves has asked him to be. He’s been a center, he’s played on the wing, he’s a key penalty killer, he’s been a key power play guy, he’s been great. In 15 games in March, he had 5 goals and 5 assists for 10 points. Again, Robidas has earned his debut and I’m rooting for him wholeheartedly (I’m writing this at 6 PM on Friday so he hasn’t played his first game yet)

3. Alexander Perevalov, W (Metallurg Novokuznetsk, VHL)

An easy contender for Most Improved Prospect, the move to Metallurg has paid off big time for both Perevalov and Metallurg. In 12 games, he had 2 goals and 8 assists for 10 points, helping them to become the top seed in the VHL playoffs. His shot is lethal and it’s great to see his playmaking take a step.

2. Bradly Nadeau, W (Chicago Wolves, AHL)

What more could you ask for from Bradly Nadeau. There’s a great chance he hits 30 goals in his first AHL season, something that hasn’t been done since Roman Voloshenko in the 2005/06 season. In 15 games in March, Nadeau had 7 goals and 5 assists for 12 points. Nadeau has maintained his unreal level of play since the World Juniors and it’s getting really hard to envision a Hurricanes team that doesn’t include Nadeau next season.

1. Ryan Suzuki, C (Chicago Wolves, AHL)

I’m just so happy Suzuki has stayed healthy. He’s been rewarded for staying healthy by having his most productive season in the AHL. In 15 games, he has 3 goals and 10 assists for 13 points. He’s currently leading the Wolves with 51 points and has looked the part. Another player who earned his NHL debut this season.
